I am writing to request support to enroll in the Montessori Makers Residency, a nine-month Montessori teacher-preparation program, and to ask the school to fund the $5,000 credential cost. What the program is.

The Residency is a structured, credential-grade program covering the full Primary (ages 3–6) curriculum of 224 lessons across an academic phase and a supervised, paid classroom practicum. It is an Applicant in Good Standing for its Primary level with the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE), the only accreditor of Montessori educator preparation recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. The program is designed and documented in alignment with MACTE’s Quality Principles. (Applicant in Good Standing status does not determine the outcome of MACTE’s accreditation decisions.)

Why funding it is a sound decision for the school.

  • The credential is earned through a paid classroom practicum, so I keep teaching our students while I train rather than leaving for outside coursework.
  • It retains and develops a staff member the school already knows, which costs less than recruiting and onboarding a credentialed guide from outside.
  • The preparation includes dedicated behavior-support and structured-literacy work, so it targets the classrooms we actually run.
  • It results in a documented, MACTE-aligned credential and a complete curriculum album that stays with our program.

The cost.

The total credential cost is $5,000. It can be paid in full or across nine interest-free monthly payments of $556. The program can provide a formal cost letter on letterhead, a W-9, and an invoice for a purchase order on request.
